BAD WEATHER POLICY

With over 20 years of putting out flags, we have developed the following procedures if it is raining or severe weather is in the forecast.

If it is not raining at the time designated to put out flags, the club will put out flags, even if we have a forecast for rain that day. (We've found that most of the time that rain was forecast to be less than 50% and often never occurred).

If it is raining, thundering or lightning (or that is imminent), the club will either delay putting out flags (for an hour or so), or make the call to change the day of the flag display, taking into account the rest of the day forecast. We also have to take the safety of our members into account.

If, towards the end of the day, rain is imminent, our members will typically pick them up an hour or so early, waiting until as late as possible to pick them up. (Our 15 routes each take anywhere's from 30 minutes to 2 hours in the morning and evening to complete). Some routes will begin earlier than others.

If we have to make a decision to change the Flag Day because of weather, then we may put them out the next day, or the following weekend (typically on a Saturday) as the day designated for the flag display.
